THE VISION
Believing in God’s Word and Spirit
In early 1979, a vision of God’s purpose was revealed to Eric H. Jones, Jr. The vision was of a worship center staffed by Christian ministers and Christian counselors, operating 24 hours a day. The center was to initially spring from un-churched men and women who had a working knowledge of God’s desire to meet the spiritual, physical and mental needs of mankind. As members of the body of Christ, those sent by God would minister to the total man.
The construction of the center is to be on no less than ten acres of land. The worship center will aid the poor, the destitute, the homeless, the captives and all others who find themselves lost, whether by wrong choices and/or other circumstances. Among other things, the center will also house a fully equipped, Spirit filled, and government accredited Christian school. The school will cover pre-kindergarten through twelfth grade. The funds for the center will come from God’s people, following God’s plan of giving.
The Vision was given to Eric Jones in these words, “A light will shine from Carver Ranches, a controversial light, a persecuted light, but a light that will make a difference.” He attempted to ignore this part of the vision and proceeded to organize the worship center in Dade County. However, God’s will prevailed, after several moves in Dade County a door was opened for the Vision to become a reality in Broward County.
What you are witnessing here is Phase 1 of a latter day movement of God; a movement that is different to some and indifferent to others; a movement that is strange but not new. We do not have a monopoly on this movement; we are only sharing in this great work.
History
In 1980 three (3) families – the Jones’, the Albury’s and the Harvey’s, of Carol City, Florida decided that they needed a closer walk with God and a deeper commitment to Jesus Christ. They began to meet on Monday nights for a Spirit filled Bible study at the home of Eric H. Jones, Jr. As the months passed, the study group increased in number and eventually outgrew the pastor’s home. By the guidance of the Holy Spirit, the pastor and the study group decided to step out on faith and carry out the Great Commission of Christ, that is, “…to go and win the lost.” Under the leadership of Pastor Jones and the guidance of the Holy Spirit a ministry was established. Embracing the call and the vision for the Koinonia Village has not been without its challenges and obstacles, but the Koinonia family has learned through it all God remains faithful. Through the empowerment of the Holy Spirit the vision given to Pastor Jones more than 40 years ago is being realized a light truly is shining from Carver Ranches…a light that is making a difference. The Vision grows…
Baptism & Communion
The ordinances, baptism and communion are significant acts which are at the center of the
church’s expression of faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. It is important for believers in the Lord
Jesus Christ to understand that baptism reflects the meaning of the Gospel because it involves
both a relationship with Jesus Christ and fellow believers in the local church.
Church Membership
Church membership is the commitment of the believer to be identified and dynamically involved with a local body of Christians who have placed themselves under the authority of Jesus Christ. Church membership is a divinely established, legally binding relationship between God and his
people whereby they agree to function in harmony with other believers under his designated structure of authority in accordance with the revealed guidelines of Scripture resulting in long-
term consequences over time. This relationship is called a covenant.
